Hi! Back to regularly scheduled programming this week… I’m finally feeling settled. It’s cooling off here ever so slightly (knock on wood), but my FYP still thinks I’m in New York, and I have to admit, I’m envious of the weather there.
A weekly catch up on my life… we had another home game on Saturday! SMU lost to Baylor which put a damper on the weekend but nonetheless, we persevered. I wore this dress, which if you read my July posts you know I also wore for the Fourth. I’m a shameless outfit repeater especially when the dress is so fitting for both occasions. I also wore these boots which I anticipate to be a true MVP this Fall.
Most days I’m running straight from work to class to chapter…etc. Which means my brain is constantly trying to piece together outfits to get me out the door quickly while also feeling my best. If you’re also juggling a packed fall schedule, whether it’s meetings, Bible study, mahjong, a busy class schedule, or even a travel day; here’s what I’m wearing to stay productive and pulled-together during this weird seasonal transition.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this idea lately. What makes up my go-to formula for an easy, day-to-day outfit? It’s definitely nothing groundbreaking, just sticking to pieces that feel comfortable & pulled-together.
I wouldn’t necessarily call myself pro–capsule wardrobe; because at the end of the day, I’m going to wear what I want and what makes me feel good. I’m also in college, which means sometimes I wake up late and throw on leggings and a t-shirt. It happens.
That said, I really try not to. My days are so much better when I feel put together, and luckily, my internship this semester has a dress code (fairly lax), so dressing up isn’t really optional (which, of course, I love). It gives me a reason to actually get dressed, even on the busiest days.
Everyday Basics
I feel like the best go-to outfit when you don’t know what to wear is a white top with denim or a pair of shorts.
Madewell Perfect Crewneck - This just came in for BTS and will be on rotation this fall. A closet staple!
GAP Toile Blouse - A great basic top to throw on with jeans, shorts etc. I also love this one.
Alex Mill Button Down - I shared this in my last post but it’s seriously the best button down I’ve tried.
GAP White Blouse - The classic Dôen look for less.
Buck Mason Boxy Tee - Another great basic. Buck Mason has some great pieces right now.
What To Wear
Tuckernuck Set - I got this set at the Tuckernuck store in New York (btw if you’re in NYC- you must go). I’m so excited to style it over the next few months.
J.Crew Sweater - I linked this sweater in my last post (in white), but I’m obsessed with this pattern too. It’d be so cute tied over your shoulders with a dress or worn casually with jeans.
Julia Amory Skirt - This is a great transitional skirt. Not to mention wearing it as a set in the warmer months. I saw it styled with a brown cardigan (linking a tried & true + it’s on sale!), and it looked so good.
Parke Mini Dress - This denim mini just came in and I’m so excited to wear it to class. Adding a sweater on top when Dallas cools down!
J.Crew Button Down - So excited to wear this stripe button down this fall with denim.
Loving This Week
Linking some things I’ve screenshotted the past couple of weeks. Because if I can’t buy them, someone should :)
Tuckernuck Navy Embroidered Blouse - This top feels made for SMU or Ole Miss, but also works perfectly for casual wear. So easy & cute!
La Ligne Rugby - On the wishlist! Feels like one of those pieces you’d end up wearing constantly.
Hunter Bell Gingham - Great on its own, but even better with the matching shorts.
Tuckernuck Navy Dress - Just found this and immediately wished I’d had it all summer. Great work dress!
Carmen Says Dress - A bit more dressed up, but I love the colors. The brand’s new to me and it’s worth a scroll.
WNU Denim Button Down - Sharing this one again because denim on denim is a go-to (so easy), and this button down is a great basic.
Beaded Necklace - This just came in from Amazon! I think a beaded necklace elevates every outfit.
Red Sunglasses - I wore these again this weekend and got so many compliments. I’m vv into big sunglasses right now.
Phone Case - Random but this is my favorite phone case. I just got a new one so I thought I’d share.
Tuckernuck Cropped Trench - Best for last… this jacket can pull any outfit together. It’s on my wishlist and I think it should be on yours too.
As much as I love posting my online shopping finds, a new season does not mean you have to buy a new wardrobe. Let this be a reminder to also shop your closet this Fall (I know I will be).
If you’ve made it to the end, I appreciate you! Lots of links today. Stay tuned for gameday outfits and lots more this month. I hope everyone has a great week.
XO,
Mims
